  1. It was a great series, and yeah, I really wish it would have ended differently, or at least… not so damn disappointing, considering the epic nature of it all…

  2. I’m going to rewatch this right after I finish my Darker than Black. Lawl. Hopefully I can complete all the stuff I’m watching right now before jumping into Autumn. ><

  3. FUCK YEAH this is epic win.

On the whole i’m not too ruffled over the ending- its was pretty good imo- closure and not going for the ‘best ending’, – damn gainax wrapped it up well. One of the best shows of 2007? Hell yeah.

Is there really an ova coming out? That would really make my day. :D

  4. What happened to Boota? He changed back into a molepig.

  5. Apparently that whole transformation was his dream, and nothing more. =/

  6. Well….. This comment is WAY late but.
    AT LEAST
    IT DIDNT END
    WITH AN
    E
    V
    A
    N
    G
    E
    L
    I
    O
    N
    MINFCK
    ENDING
    BUT
    LOL
    BIG LETTERS!

  7. “I couldn’t have hoped for a better ending than this, as it was very complete and concluded everything on a high note”

I couldn’t agree less. Gainax, with it’s history of sour anime endings, has managed to completely wrap up a storyline, without leaving any questions unanswered. I was completely satisfied at how full and rich the ending was.

“although as mentioned, not the way I wanted it too.”

How much better could you have wanted it? Please elaborate and rationalize.

You have had the perfect climax, with the epic battle against the giant Anti Spiral, and the perfect resolution with the marriage and the 20 year time-skip epilogue.

TTGL’s final minutes is an example of how stories should end.

And on a more personal note, I would like to say that the brilliance of this episode drove my cold heart to tears. In particular, I found myself trying hard to hold back tears after the 20 year time-skip

…I seriously did not see that epilogue coming. I was just about to close my browser after Simon leaves the wedding alone . But I noticed that there was still some substantial time left in my online browser time-line. And what do you know? One of the most beautiful epilogues done.

When I realized how so many of the characters couldn’t have everything they want, despite the fact that they achieved victory, I just cried at how amazingly realistic the ending was.

    20 years on:
. Yoko managed to become a principal, but can not find true love, as all of her lovers would always die. She will be alone till she dies.

. Viral gets the respect he deserves and becomes one of mankind’s most important generals. But his ultimate wish of having a family will never ever come true, due to the fact that in reality, a Beastman cannot have children. And the fact that he is immortal makes it even more sad, as he will live alone forever.

. Simon lives a lonely life of solitude. Imagine, 20 years living alone. He will live like this till he dies.

In essence, all of the main characters won for humanity. But all of the main characters now live alone.

Truly one of the greatest stories in any medium, whether it be live action or anime.

I wish there were more anime or series in general like TTGL.

    Thank you Gainax.
